Arthur Crestani is a French photographer living and working in the Paris region.
With a background in urban planning and social sciences, he works on documentary projects investigating the making and the usage of space.
His various projects question the representation of inhabited places, the legacy of Modern and Post-Modern architecture and urban planning, and the tensions of the present moment.
While driven by a fascination for form and built matter, his work constantly questions the human dimension in architecture and space. Both realist and critical, his approach remains subjective, tenderness and at times playful, in its relationship to his subjects and fields of research.
Rooted in a documentary approach, but not limited to a particular photographic aesthetic, his work evolves from project to project, in search of a balanced and curious approach to the making of images, centered on the dedication to the subject and the story, and the precision and relevance of the visual approach.
He works on commissions for a broad range of clients, from cultural, urban and architectural institutions, to architects and designers, to the press and media. A laureate of the Regards du Grand Paris commission (CNAP & Ateliers Medicis) in 2026, he currently develops a new project on hotels in the Paris Region under the title Suite Infinie.
Since 2022, he has taught photography at Paris 8 University, the architecture schools of Paris-Belleville and Paris-Est, the graphic design school of Campus Fonderie de l’Image.
